I only own one Festool, the TS55 along with the CT22 (Dust Extractor) a few guides and a set of guide clamps.
I am very demanding on my tools and equipment and probably expect too much from what they are designed to do. But, hands down the TS55 is probably one of my most important tools. It has paid for itself ten times over and that's probably an underestimate.
If I do make another Festool purchase I believe the MFT Multifunction table would be very beneficial to my needs.
What Festools do you guys own and feel the purchase was well worth it and no other tool could replace it.
Hey Joe, I just wanted to send a note of Thanks. Your videos are very good. You'"ve got a great way of explaining things and you sure know what the heck your talking about.
I'm buying the Festool TS 55 with a 2nd 55in rail on Friday after work. I suspect 95% of the time I use it will be with 4x8 Sheet Goods. Other than it being a little pricey I haven't heard one negative thing about it. Anyone have any thoughts on the TS 75? From what I gather, it seems like overkill. Is there anything I will not be able to do with the 55 that I will really miss?
Thanks again for the confident recommendations and the great videos. I look forward to contributing when I can.
I'm sure you are going to just love your new Festool setup. If there is one thing I'd say is don't buy the second 55" rail. . . The reason being is that's exactly what I did and within a short time I purchased the 106" rail, though it was less expensive when I purchased it! I'd suggest you try and swing purchasing it in lieu of the second 55" rail.
The TS75 come out a short time after I purchased the TS55 and I felt, at the time, that I might have missed out on it's "extra" capacity, but that just hasn't been the case. The TS55 is perfect for all things other then cutting a 3" door and 4 sheet of 3/4" ply at one time.
Diddo on video kudos joe. Lots of good info. the only advantage of the 75 to me is the ability to gang rip 4 sheets of ply. i use 2 55" guides with the connectors. It seems to work just fine for me. I have a small garage that seems to get smaller when i do a cab job. i think storing 2 55" guides is easier then one long 106". But thats me what ever works.
I can't put the Festool catalog down. I think my wife might be jealous
I went to my local dealer today and learned that the prices of Festool gear is set by the manufacturer, I didn't know this. So there's no sense in spending time shopping around, because I like the guys who work this particular shop.
He told me that Festool is having a Promotion/Sale starting in April, so I am going to hold off purchasing my TS55 for a couple more weeks. He said they'll do this from time to time on tools, but its rare for them to discount accessories.
The sale is 10% off the TS55 or 75, all guide rails, all TS blades, the guide rail system and the guide rail accessory kit. I know its only a 10% discount, but hey, its all the stuff I was going to buy anyway. Its always nice to catch a break.
I kinda figured the prices were set. They are the same prices at amazon that they are at Austins (my fav supplier) I buy from my favorite supplier because I like them, most importantly trust them. They are are all in the cab making business and work there part time or work their business part time, Plus any issues with the equipment I drive over there and they give me great service and really take their time explaining everything and answer every question I have about set up etc.
I would buy a couple of happy meals to relax me until the the sale then go nuts on a shopping spree :>D
